What Is Style part 2

Now that this class is drawing to a close, it's interesting to look back at all the readings and discussions we've had about the topic of "writing style" as a whole. While I've always been a decent writer, I definitely learned a lot about the smaller components that make up a good paper. I've always known that key topics, such as audience, formality, structure, etc. were important, but I also learned new ideas such as wordiness, and their importance in writing. One aspect that I found interesting in this class, was how often we tied in pictures and images with writing. I've never taken a writing class that involved the visual aspect as much as this one. Using the comics and video projects was a good change of pace, and allowed us a slightly different perspective on writing as well as communication. Because I'm a very visual person I really enjoyed comparing and contrasting the two art forms.

While I really didn't like all of our writing prompts and projects in this class, I definitely learned a lot. I can now see the some of what Dr. Krause was trying to get us to understand, which is the whole point in education. This was by far the hardest writing class I've ever taken, and I did learn a lot.
